Chinese PLA launches 'Strait Thunder-2025A' exercises in Taiwan Strait

The Chinese People's Liberation Army's Eastern Theater Command conducted military exercises code-named "Strait Thunder-2025A" in the middle and southern areas of the Taiwan Strait on Wednesday, according to news released by Weibo account of the Command.

The exercises focused on subjects of identification and verification, warning and expulsion, and interception and detention to test the troops' capabilities of area regulation and control, joint blockade and control, and precision strikes on key targets, the spokesperson said Senior Colonel Shi Yi, spokesperson for the Eastern Theater Command.

The PLA conducted joint exercises involving land, sea, air and rocket forces around the island of Taiwan on Tuesday. It is a "just and necessary action" to defend national sovereignty and maintain national unity, the PLA stressed.
