2025 ASEAN-China Media Cooperation Forum and Henan Familiarization Trip held in Henan Province,China

On 25 May 2025, the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), in collaboration with China International Communications Group (CICG), hosted the 2025 ASEAN-China Media Cooperation Forum in Luoyang City ,Central China's Henan Province.

As part of the China–ASEAN Year of People-to-People Exchanges, the forum held under the theme “Harnessing the Power of AI to Enhance Communication Cooperation in the Region”, has brought together around 150 attendees including diplomatic envoys and media professionals from all 10 ASEAN Member States (AMS), representatives of ASEAN Youth Organization and relevant government agencies and media professionals from China.

As co-hosts of the 2025 ASEAN-China Media Cooperation Forum, CICG and the ACC jointly launched the “Joint Initiative on Promoting ASEAN-China Media Ecosystem Governance through the Application of Artificial Intelligence Technologies”to media organizations across the eleven countries, with the aim of shaping a media environment that is more authentic, diverse, and credible, strengthening collaboration, leveraging AI technologies to enhance media capacities, and contributing wisdom to the formulation of more effective and adaptable policies by each government. Additionally, the forum also launched the “Plan on ASEAN-China New Media Exchange Programme”.

After the forum, a delegation comprising ASEAN media representatives and diplomatic envoys from ASEAN countries in China participated in the “Rediscovering Henan: The Ancient Roots with Mordern Wings” Familiar Trip. The delegation explored cultural and historical landmarks such as the Longmen Grottoes, White Horse Temple, Yinxu Museum, the Red Flag Canal, and Miaohuang Village, gaining a deeper understanding of the unique charm of Central Plains civilization and leaving with profound impressions.  

During the visit, the delegation also toured YTO Group, drone industrial park, Henan Broadcasting System, MIXUE Group, BYD Factory, and Zhengzhou International Land Port, learning about Henan's achievements in manufacturing, emerging technologies, and modern logistics. They experienced the dynamic vitality of openness, cooperation, and innovation in central China.  

In addition, the delegation witnessed the departure ceremony of a Zhengzhou International Land Port train bound for South Africa. As the whistle sounded, the freight train, fully loaded with goods, set off on its journey.  

Throughout the visit, the delegation was warmly welcomed by the Henan Provincial Government and the municipal governments of Zhengzhou and Anyang, experienced the local governments'  proactive efforts in promoting international exchanges and cooperation.
