On 3 August 2026, Zhang Lizhong, Secretary General of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), called on Chatchai Viriyavejakul, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to China.

Zhang Lizhong noted that ever since the establishment of the ASEAN-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership five years ago, bilateral economic and trade exchanges have maintained strong momentum, and people-to-people exchanges have continued to flourish. High-level exchanges between Thailand and China have remained close. Last year the two sides celebrated the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, and last month the Thai Prime Minister completed a successful visit to China. He expressed deep appreciations for Thailand’s longstanding and active participation for the ACC’s activities across various fields, including the ACC’s organisation of the Innovative Economic Forum in Thailand last year. The ACC looks forward to further deepening close cooperation with the Thai side in areas such as economy and trade, smart agriculture, culture and tourism, and youth exchanges, so as to jointly implement the important consensus reached by the leaders and steadily enrich the substance of the family-like relationship of China and Thailand as well as the ASEAN-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Chatchai Viriyavejakul extended a warm welcome to Secretary General Zhang and congratulated him on assuming his duties at the ACC. He expressed gratitude to the ACC for its well-organised activities across various sectors to showcase ASEAN, and is looking forward to the ACC’s upcoming projects including the Familiarization Trip to the Laos-China Railway and the Ambassadors’ Lecture Series. He is committed to work in close collaboration with the ACC to continuously advance practical cooperation across all fields, especially on economy and trade, culture and tourism, renewable energy, and the innovation economy.
