On November 3, 2026, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Chinese Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi met in Beijing with Minister of the Ministry of National Planning, Investment and Foreign Economic Relations of Myanmar U Aung Kyaw Hoe, who is in China to attend the 11th Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Foreign Ministers’ Meeting.

Wang Yi stated that China and Myanmar are “pauk-phaw” brothers who have stood together through thick and thin and a community with a shared future that supports each other through difficult times. In June this year, Chinese President Xi Jinping held an important meeting with Myanmar's President Min Aung Hlaing during his state visit to China. The two sides agreed to accelerate the building of a China-Myanmar community with a shared future. China supports political reconciliation in Myanmar and supports the country’s new government in stabilizing the situation, developing the economy, improving people’s livelihoods and revitalizing the country. China has always been a strategic partner on which Myanmar can rely. China stands ready to work with Myanmar to further deepen and substantiate the building of a China-Myanmar community with a shared future.
Wang Yi stated that the two sides should coordinate development and security, steadily advance key projects under the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor, strengthen cooperation in such areas as energy and resources, step up efforts to combat online gambling and telecom fraud, and prevent a resurgence of illicit activities in Myawaddy. China hopes that Myanmar would take concrete measures to ensure the safety of Chinese personnel, institutions, and projects in the country.
U Aung Kyaw Hoe stated that Myanmar upholds the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, carries forward the traditional friendship between Myanmar and China, and always adheres to the one-China principle. President Min Aung Hlaing’s successful visit to China recently gave a strong boost to the development of bilateral relations. Myanmar thanked China for its assistance with post-earthquake reconstruction and expressed its readiness to work with China to accelerate the implementation of projects under the Myanmar-China Economic Corridor and continuously enhance the level of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries. Myanmar will step up efforts to combat telecom fraud in cooperation with China and other countries in the region. Myanmar welcomes more Chinese companies to invest and do business in the country. Myanmar also thanked China for upholding justice for Myanmar on the international stage and expressed its readiness to work with China to ensure the successful conclusion of this Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Foreign Ministers’ Meeting.
