Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Prime Minister of Vietnam Pham Minh Chinh in Beijing on Tuesday.

Nothing that this year marks the 15th anniversary of the establishment of China-Vietnam comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, Xi said that the exchanges between the two countries at all levels are becoming increasingly close, and the consensus reached by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and himself is being implemented.

China regards Vietnam as a priority in its neighborhood diplomacy and a community with a shared future with strategic significance, Xi said, adding that it is a strategic choice made by China based on the long-term development of bilateral relations.

Facing the increasingly severe and complex international situations, Xi said, China and Vietnam should uphold the spirit of equality and mutual benefit, solidarity, mutual trust and win-win cooperation, work together and seek common development so as to better benefit the two peoples, and inject more stability into a world of change and turmoil.

Stressing that China and Vietnam are both socialist countries, comrades with high mutual trust, partners of mutual benefit, win-win cooperation, and friends with affinity, Xi said the two countries should deepen the exchange of experience in governing the Party and the country, adhere to the concept of "putting people first," and firmly support each other in taking the socialist road and the road of modernization with different characteristics in line with their national conditions.

The two sides should jointly build the "Belt and Road" with high quality and strengthen the alignment of development strategies, Xi said, adding that the two sides should push ahead with practical cooperation, and China is willing to import more marketable Vietnamese products.

The two countries should expand people-to-people and cultural exchanges to enhance mutual understanding between the two peoples, especially the younger generation, and build a solid social foundation for the growth of bilateral relations, Xi said.

The two sides should jointly oppose "decoupling," oppose the pan-politicization of economic and technological issues, safeguard international fairness and justice and their own development rights, promote the development of the international order in a more just and reasonable direction, and create a peaceful and stable external environment for the modernization of the two countries, Xi said.

For his part, Pham said that China is a major country in the world and a close friend of Vietnam and that the sustainable development of long-term, stable and sound Vietnam-China relations has always been the strategic choice and top priority of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Vietnamese government.

The Vietnamese side firmly adheres to the one-China policy, supports President Xi Jinping's Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative, and Global Civilization Initiative, and supports China's accession to Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), he said.

Vietnam will continue to take an active part in the joint construction of the "Belt and Road" and deepen cooperation in various fields with China so as to promote the continuous development of Vietnam-China relations, Pham said.

Pham also said that Vietnam opposes politicization of economic issues, and is willing to work closely with China to prevent and deal with various risks and challenges, prevent any force from driving a wedge between Vietnam and China, and build a Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership with a shared future.
