Government officials and tourism industry stakeholders met Saturday at a forum as part of the 2023 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) to brainstorm strategies aimed at rejuvenating the tourism sector.
Pansy Ho Chiu-king, vice chair and secretary-general of Global Tourism Economy Forum, noted that we must strengthen our cooperation between the tourism industry and with cities, especially for city-to-city cooperation. This is why international exchange platforms like the World Tourism Cities Federation (WTCF) is vital.
She also stressed the importance of innovation in boosting tourism revival. "Confronted with these evolving tourism trends and changing ecosystems, the industry must foster innovation and establish new modes of operation to stimulate new consumption. This is where city tourism has a leading role to play. Cities have more opportunities to leverage their unique strengths and build upon the foundations laid by the tourism industry sector," said Pansy Ho Chiu-king.
