Hangzhou sparks passion of locals with Asian Games spectator zones

Hangzhou has established a multitude of spectator zones equipped with display screens and sports fields, allowing residents to experience the electrifying atmosphere of the 19th Asian Games, irrespective of their physical attendance.

The spectator zones were transformed from existing indoor and outdoor public spaces such as squares, parks, exhibition halls, and theaters.

A series of dynamic warm-up shows enthralled numerous local residents and tourists at Hangzhou's Qiantang District, where a spectator zone was set up. Attendees eagerly participated in thrilling sports activities, including rugby, basketball, and dryland curling.

"I felt the strong atmosphere of the Asian Games, and both children and adults can have a lot of fun. More people can know more about Hangzhou through such a great event as the Asian Games," said Weng Yunyun, a local resident.

"With the organization of such events, the aim is to attract more participation from the public, promoting the concept of everyone joining in, serving, and contributing to the Asian Games," said Sheng Luqing, a publicity officer with the district.

Hangzhou has transformed 15 major spectator zones and 69 smaller ones, each boasting unique characteristics. The zones will not only cater to the Asian Games but also continue to be utilized as venues for leisure, entertainment, and cultural activities for residents even after the conclusion of the sports events.

Co-hosted by Hangzhou and the five other cities in Zhejiang Province, the 19th Asian Games will run from September 23 to October 8, featuring 40 sports, 61 disciplines and 483 events at 54 competition venues.

当地居民翁云云说：“我感受到了亚运会的强烈氛围，孩子们和成年人都可以享受到很多乐趣。通过亚运会这样的盛会，更多的人可以更多地了解杭州。”

“举办这些活动的目的，是吸引更多市民参与，推广每个人参与、服务和为亚运会作出贡献的理念，”该地区的宣传主任盛陆庆说。

杭州已经改造了15个主要观众区和69个较小的观众区，每个区域都有其独特的特点。这些地区不单会迎合亚运会的需要，更会在赛事结束后，继续用作居民的休闲、娱乐和文化活动的场地。

由杭州和浙江省其他五个城市共同主办的第19届亚运会将于9月23日至10月8日在54个比赛场馆举行，共举办40项运动、61项纪律和483项赛事。
