As of 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, a 6.8-magnitude earthquake in Dingri County in the city of Xigaze in Xizang Autonomous Region has resulted in 53 fatalities and 62 injuries, according to local authorities. A Level-II emergency response has been activated.

Key regional leaders have arrived at the disaster area, emphasizing the urgency of rescuing the injured, assessing damage, and safeguarding lives and property through coordinated efforts.

The earthquake struck at 9:05 a.m. in Cuoguo Township, with approximately 6,900 residents living within 20 kilometers of the epicenter, which encompasses 3 townships and 27 villages. Rescue operations are underway.
