Phnom Penh, Cambodia – The Cassava Federation of Cambodia (CFC) and the Vietnam Cassava Association (VCA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Thursday, October 23rd, 2025, to significantly enhance collaboration across the entire cassava value chain between the two nations.

The signing ceremony, held at the Ministry of Commerce, was presided over by H.E. Cham Nimul, Minister of Ministry of Commerce. The event brought together senior government officials, representatives from the Embassy of Vietnam, leaders of both cassava associations, key financial institutions including ARDB Bank and SME Bank, major cassava purchasing companies from both countries, and development partners.

The newly signed MoU establishes a framework to foster best practices and standards in cassava cultivation, boost the development of processing industries for value-added cassava products and streamline and enhance cross-border trade mechanisms. This comprehensive cooperation is projected to facilitate the export of approximately nine million tons of fresh cassava from Cambodia to Vietnam annually.

Further demonstrating the initiative's immediate impact, four major cassava purchasing companies from Cambodia and Vietnam simultaneously signed commercial agreements during the event. These deals commit to the annual purchase of roughly three million tons of fresh cassava directly from Cambodian farmers, providing a substantial and reliable market for their produce.

This partnership marks a pivotal moment for the regional agricultural sector, strengthening economic ties and ensuring stable market access for Cambodian cassava.
