Cambodia's Online Business Registration Service, commonly known as the Single Portal, has reached a major milestone, successfully registering 50,564 businesses with a staggering total investment capital of $20.27 billion as of September this year. The achievement was confirmed in a report released by the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) on Monday.
The platform's success is seen as a direct response to the private sector's demand for an improved business environment. The digital system has significantly reduced procedures, time, and cost associated with business registration, offering greater convenience for establishing private-sector enterprises in Cambodia. The data underscores a significant milestone, with total 50,564 registered businesses which worth 20.27 billion dollars and the top registered sectors are namely: Restaurant and mobile food services, specialized wholesale, household equipment sales, and construction. Women entrepreneurs own a significant 37 percent of all registered businesses, with 25,203 other business names also reserved.
Lim Heng, Vice President of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce, praised the performance, noting that the strong registration numbers "show the good business environment and confidence among investors in doing business in Cambodia." The Single Portal now offers as many as 33 public services provided by 21 ministries and institutions, streamlining the process with automatic information sharing for review and approval across relevant government departments.
Launched in phases starting June 2020, the system’s robust digital performance is attracting capital and reflecting the resilience and dynamism of the country’s private sector.
