Cambodia launches major three-province EXPO to connect returning migrant workers with 70,000+ job opportunities

PHNOM PENH, CAMBODIA – The Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training (MoLVT)  of Cambodia announced a comprehensive series of “Employment Expo, Social Security Promotion and Vocational Training” themed activities targeting migrant workers returning to Cambodia, especially those from Thailand.

In a move to thoroughly implement the government’s policy on promoting citizens' smooth employment, the MoLVT will host the multi-dimensional service events across three key provinces: Battambang: from November 15th to 16th, Banteay Meanchey: from November 22nd to 23rd and Siem Reap from November 29th to 30th. The initiative in Battambang, Banteay Meanchey, and Siem Reap will provide a comprehensive suite of services, including on-site interviews, vocational training, and social security enrollment, aligning with the government's smooth employment policy.

The series of activities aims to provide convenient employment services, critical skills upgrading channels, and comprehensive social security information, helping returning workers seize valuable opportunities and improve their quality of life upon reintegration into the domestic workforce.

Cambodian Labor Ministry spokesperson Sun Mesa confirmed the strong commitment from the private sector to this initiative. “The expo is expected to attract many businesses, companies, and factories, collectively offering more than 70,000 job opportunities and including on-site interviews,” said Mr. Mesa. “Participants will not only gain a comprehensive understanding of various employment opportunities and the latest technical training courses but will also learn about the welfare and security policies related to the National Social Security Fund (NSSF).”

In addition to core services, the event will offer personalized support, including complimentary T-shirts, free food and drinks, and free haircuts for participants.

Mr. Mesa concluded by urging the target audience to participate: “We call on all migrant workers returning from Thailand to actively participate in this series of activities. This is a crucial opportunity to enhance your vocational skills, seize valuable employment opportunities, and achieve tangible improvements in your personal quality of life.”
