Representatives from Cambodia and Thailand have officially signed a joint ceasefire agreement following the third special meeting of the General Border Committee (GBC). The agreement, signed in the morning of December 27 at the Pailin-Chanthaburi permanent border checkpoint, marks the end of three weeks of border hostilities.

The ceasefire is scheduled to take effect at 12:00 PM (noon) local time (UCT+07:00) on December 27, 2025. Under the terms of the "Joint Statement of the Third Special Meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand Border Committee," both nations have committed to:

1. Immediate halt to all armed conflict along the border.

2. Maintaining current troop deployments with a strict prohibition on any further troop movements.

3. Ensuring the safe return of displaced border residents to their homes and avoiding any actions that could escalate tensions.

The meeting was co-chaired by Cambodian Minister of National Defense General Tea Seiha and Thai Minister of National Defense Nattapong Napani. The proceedings were monitored by the ASEAN Observer Missions from both countries to ensure transparency.

A key provision of the agreement includes the repatriation of 18 Cambodian soldiers currently detained in Thailand. This transfer will take place once the ceasefire has been successfully maintained for a period of 72 hours.
