Cambodia SHV provincial administration organized “Sankranta 2026” to pre-celebrate Khmer New Year

ASEANTOP – Sihanouk Ville – On the evening of Aprili 5th, 2026, Preah Sihanouk provincial administration hosted a pre-celebration of Khmer New Year at Ochheuteal Beach, under the theme “Smile and Hope of Sihanouk Ville”.

This event was presided over by Vong Phanat, Chairman of the provincial council along with Ko Sinet, Preah Sihanouk provincial governor. On the occasion, Ko Sinet emphasized that the event aimes to promote and attract national and internation tourists to visit Sihanouk Ville. He further highlighted the value of unity under the moto “Nation, Religion, King” and recalled the importance of Khmer folk’s games.

The mayor included “To transform Occheuteal Beach into a standard international beach for tourist destination, the provincial administration implemented 10 major improvement projects”; including:

1.           Infrastructure: 100% parking lot, 69 solar lights, and 27 sewage systems.

2.           Greenery: Plant 200 Dipterocarpus costatus, 311 Ochna serrulata, and 1,200 square meters of grass.

3.           Order and safety: underground power lines, security cameras, and build a guardhouse for the Royal Military Police.

4.           Leisure and comfort: Improve food stalls, open 7 beach entrances, build a painted walkway, and erect a “I Love Sihanoukville” sign at the heart sign roundabout.

This event is not only a celebration of the new year, but also a demonstration of the continuous progress and readiness of Sihanouk Ville to welcome tourists during the 2026 Maha Sangkranta.
