The 2nd sector of Funan Techo Canal was inaugurated in Takeo Province, Cambodia

ASEANTOP – April 11^th, 2026 - Takeo Province, Cambodia – The 2^nd sector of Funan Techo Canal was officially inaugurated this morning, presided over by Cambodian Prime Minister HUN MANET along with WANG WENBIN, Chinese Ambassador to the Kingdom of Cambodia and many Chinese and Cambodian delegates.

The Funan Techo Canal Project which officially known as “Funan Techo Integrated Water Resources Management Project” was inaugurated on August 5^th, 2024 by HUN MANET. This canal will serve as a high value in economy and livelihood of the local people. The canal is being built entirely on the exiting natural waterways and ancient waterways that have been used since the Funan Kingdom.

The Funan Techo Canal Project is the first historic project in Cambodia’s waterway transportation sector to connect the Mekong River and the sea, with approximately spans over 172.6km. This canal project is divided into two sections, the first section spans over 21km and the second section spans over 151.6km.
