The Kingdom of Cambodia and the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) have expressed their deep satisfaction with the progress of their traditional good-neighbourly relations and their long-term comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation.

The satisfaction was emphasised by Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and visiting H.E. Dr. Sonexay Siphandone, Prime Minister of the Lao PDR, during their bilateral meeting at the Peace Palace here on Dec. 4 afternoon.
The two leaders also encouraged relevant ministries and institutions of both countries to continue to promote stronger and closer cooperation, and supported the exchange of visits between delegations at all levels, including between youth and youth.
Moreover, they agreed to continue strengthening and expanding the cooperation between the two neighbours in key areas, including politics and diplomacy, economy, trade, investment and finance, national defence and security, energy, transport and infrastructure connectivity, education, tourism, culture and arts, as well as the cooperation within regional and international frameworks.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet spoke highly of the two-day (Dec. 4-5) visit of H.E. Dr. Sonexay Siphandone to Cambodia, believing that through this official visit, Cambodian-Laos friendship will be further fostered. He also congratulated Laos on her success as the ASEAN Chair in 2024.
For his part, the Lao Premier thanked the Royal Government and the people of Cambodia for their warm hospitality, and commended Cambodia for maintaining peace, political stability and economic growth, moving forward energetically under the wise leadership of Samdech Thipadei.
Following their bilateral talks, the two Prime Ministers presided over the signing ceremonies of the agreement on the elimination of double taxation with respect to taxes on income and the prevention of fiscal evasion and avoidance, the memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the agricultural sector, and the memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the cultural and artistic sectors.
