The Hong Kong Palace Museum celebrated its first anniversary on Monday, presenting cultural and creative gifts to the first 100 visitors on the day and displaying a new batch of cultural relics loaned from the Palace Museum in Beijing.

Since it opened to the public on July 3, 2022, the Hong Kong Palace Museum has welcomed approximately 1.3 million visitors, including 120,000 vulnerable people and 70,000 students and teachers.

The museum has presented 12 well planned exhibitions to the public, showcasing collections from Hong Kong, the Palace Museum and other important cultural institutions around the world.

Meanwhile, it has actively engaged in academic exchanges with cultural institutions at home and abroad to consolidate Hong Kong's position as a center for international cultural and art exchanges.

"There were many visitors here in the morning. It's quite lively. We hope to present more high-quality and diverse [exhibitions] and our fine traditional culture to our visitors in the coming year," said Louis Ng Chi-wa, curator of Hong Kong Palace Museum.

"[The exhibitions allow students] to get to know some exhibits of the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties, learn about China's 5,000-year-long culture, and develop a sense of belonging to our country," said a teacher at Hong Kong Pui Kiu Primary School.

The museum announced Monday that the fifth batch of 51 treasures borrowed from the Palace Museum has been put on display for three months. Most of the exhibits are making their debuts in Hong Kong, including a number of first-class national cultural relics.
